A word of welcome

From Superintendent
Jeffrey M. Lewis

If you've found us by way of a friend, a search, or a quiet question. We're glad you're here. Whatever brought you to this page, our prayer is the same: that what you find at New Antioch points you to God, to His love, and to His grace.

I'm a fourth-generation member of the Church of God in Christ, raised in Los Angeles by a father who answered God's call in 1970 and a mother who taught us to walk in fullness of faith. I carry that inheritance with reverence. And I'd be honored to walk alongside you, wherever you are in your journey.

Who we point to

Christ crucified, risen, and coming back.

We are not a church about church. We are a church about Jesus.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross to take the punishment for our sin, rose from the grave on the third day, and is coming back. Eternal life is not earned. It is a gift, received through repentance and faith in Him.

Everything else here, the ministries, the building, the music, the history, exists to point you to Him. He is the only reason any of this matters.

Our story

Five decades on Vermont Avenue.

From a storefront on Manchester Boulevard in 1970 to a sanctuary that has expanded, renewed, and refused to leave its neighborhood. This is our inheritance.

In early January 1970, Dr. James A. Lewis and his wife, Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis, gathered five other saints in their home and began the work that would become New Antioch. The first service drew more than fifty-nine people. Within three years, the congregation purchased the property at 7826 South Vermont. And never moved.

The sanctuary has been renovated, expanded, and reimagined. The mission has not changed: to be a place where people are saved, healed, set free, discipled, equipped, empowered, and serving.
